DOWSE Guide to the
Movies
By the time this review's out, you'll all probably have read all the reviews on the
film? I haven't yet seen a good one. It seems that if there was ever a case of 'if
something's right, don't mess with it'. I know this usually relates to cars, but it
would appear that they've really screwed up with the 'remake'. Well, how about the OST,
then? Well, as you might expect, there's very little in the way of ballads, or 'light'
music here! Bands such as Death In Vegas, Marilyn Manson, System Of A Down, Elastica,
Godhead, Slaves On Dope, and At The Drive In. About half the tracks are fine, the
others are, well, fillers, really. Because the film is aimed at so-called 'students',
around the age of, I dunno, 18 to 25 (?), the limitations of some of the lesser known
bands is more than evident. One thing is definite, however, and that's due to the awful
press the film is getting, this album will probably be overlooked, even ignored, which
is a shame in some respects. I guess we could conclude with the fact that the album's
better than the film. review by Dave W. Hughes
