The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai - Across The Eighth Dimension

Pay very close attention to this movie, or the incredibly fast-moving plot may leave
you behind. Set in a weird world of half-reality, where "Nothing is ever what it
seems, but everything is exactly what it is," director W.D. Richter has created a
comicbook pop culture, fantasy adventure that is almost unique! Drawing its
inspiration from genre movies like Doc Savage: Man Of Bronze and Invaders
From Mars, The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai stars Peter Weller as the
brain surgeon/pop-star/martial arts superhero of the title.
It begins with a supersonic ride in a jet-car, continues with a rock concert,
and after the escape from a mental home of mad scientist Dr Emilio Lizardo aka Lord
John Whorfin (played by John Lithgow), the story aceelerates to warp-speed with an
invasian of the Earth and a race war between different coloured aliens.
Featuring Lectroids from Planet 10 led by John Big-Boote (Christopher Lloyd),
the Hong Kong Cavaliers band including Perfect Tommy (Lewis Smith) and New Jersey
(Jeff Goldblum). There's also room for Clancy Brown, and Ellen Barkin as Buckaroo's
new girlfriend, Penny Priddy. Crammed with gadgets like the "oscillation overthruster",
and some organic looking spaceships, Richter's Team Banzai have made one of the most
wacky and amusingly fantastic cult movies of the decade.
And remember: "wherever you go, there you are!"
