Dr. Strangelove: Music From The Films Of Kubrick

Obviously released on the wake of Kubrick's recent death, but no matter, better late
than never I always say. A very eclectic collection of material, gathered from films
such as The Shining, Spartacus, A Clockwork Orange, Dr.
Strangelove (obviously), Full Metal Jacket, and Lolita. Not only is
the range of music quite effective, but I had forgotten (and didn't know in some cases)
that Kubrick had been the man behind the above films. The suite of early Kubrick films
is quite an eye opener, containing such films as Day Of The Flight, Fear And
Desire, Killer's Kiss and The Killing. The sleevenotes are a very
interesting read, not only containing trivia about the music, but loads about each
film. The addition of 2001: A Space Odyssey is a nice, welcome addition,
although out of context, we've all heard 'Also Sprach...' or you should have. Not a bad
refresher.
