DOWSE Guide to the
Movies
If rap and (what is now called r 'n' b) is your thaang, then regardless of the film
and what it's about, this album might appeal. Fourteen tracks from a variety of
artists, many (indeed most) I've never heard of before. The title track kicks off the
album by Naz & Nature, and we run through stuff by Dave Hollister, Trick Daddy, 50
Cent (feat The Madd Rapper), Ali Vegas, R. Kelly, Jill Scott and Mobb Deep. No idea
what the film's about, although saying that, titles such as How To Rob, The Specialist,
Bust A Nut, Bleeding From The Mouth and Thug Money do hint as to what the main theme's
about. Plenty of swearing will probably qualify the finished album (seeing as though
this is a promo) having one of those Parental Advise thingies on it. I hate comparisons,
but I guess the nearest thing that the film may well come to is something along the
lines of Spike Lee, if not, the music does! Like I say, if you like rap with plenty of
'reality' vocals, then this here may well appeal. review by Dave W. Hughes
