DOWSE Guide to the
Movies
You might have seen this album advertised of late. It's a 43 track double CD which
contains songs, both instrumental and vocal, from a variety of films. It's arguable as
to how much of a classic the film is, or indeed some of the songs, but it's a decent
collection all the same. I could well imagine the album having a limited audience,
though. This is simply because there are songs like Always Look On The Bright Side Of
Life, running with Cavatina and Maria. Films covered, also, makes one wonder as to the
wide spectrum of styles covered: Breakfast At Tiffany's, The Saint,
Bullitt, Monty Python's Life Of Brian, The Mission, Sleepless
In Seattle, Star Wars, Forrest Gump, The Wizard Of Oz, Dr.
No, and Trainspotting. Unless you've got a good, wide range of appreciation
for both your music and your films, then I guess there'll be a lot of unwanted
crossover. If you don't mind mixing Trainspotting and The Full Monty,
and still enjoy the subtle nuances of Titanic(!), then Bob's your uncle. Back to Movies on Dowse index.
