DOWSE Guide to the
Movies
An original soundtrack taken from the film of the same name. As you can see on the
label, this is a film from Troma, although as to what it's about I have no idea. I can
well imagine that, knowing Troma, it will be filled with cheesy dialogue, a couple of
bimbos, a few hard and numb criminals, and maybe the token geek hero. The music comes
from a range of artists, some better known than others. Less Than Jake, Lunachicks,
Entombed, Rocket From The Crypt and Gwar are just a few of the known (well, as far I'm
concerned!) bands, but there's also Parasites, Toilet Boys, Girls Against Boys, Doc
Hopper, Two Man Advantage and Under The Gun. The main thrust of the songs is the
American new, new wave sound as well as the odd incredibly heavy metal (Entombed)
almost gruff metal. Anti-establishment bands and, well, a lot of what you'd expect from
labels like Golf or Go Kart. As I've always said with OST albums, sometimes it helps if
you have seen the film, but in this case, it's a fair representation of what's what in
the above mentioned genres. Could be a case of cult music for a cult film, and yes,
the spelling is correct! review by Dave W. Hughes
