Reviewed By: Laurance Pearsongreer Revelation (book of Bible), last book of the New Testament. The book is sometimes called the Apocalypse. Both English titles are derived from the first word in the Greek original, apokalypsis (revelation). Apocalypse, Revelations, Millennium, Armageddonthese are all terms given a lot of media attention back when Y2K loomed as an ominous possibility. Now in hindsight (when the potential for worldwide holocaust is a bit further removed), one may ask--What was it that frightened so many people in the first place? Was it the possible end of their comfortable world? Maybe a hellish, fiery, genocide of the entire human race gave them pause? Anyone who had actually read the book of REVELATIONS knows that sort of action doesn't come until after the Christ has returned--and has ruled the earth in peace for ONE THOUSAND YEARS. Many people fearful, of Gods ultimate criticism on Humankind, have conjured up a multitude of terrifying visions for the END-TIMEbased on what they see in the daily news. Just how close to the prophecies of Revelations are today's headlines? Having free will, does humanity still have time to avoid such an end? One author figured it was time for a realistic, up-to-date telling of the bibles epic book. TW Miller has written THE FINAL CHAPTER. Taking the supposition that the world has finally painted itself into that inescapable, hellish, corner--how would the final conflict between the forces of Evil and the legions of Christian believers play out? Realistically a lot of moral and governmental systems would have to fail to place humanity on that path. TW creates a series of characters and events that bring that story to life. In his book, once mind-boggling scriptures are rendered understandable and impossible occurrences begin to make sense. He adds dimensionality to a huge cast of players in a drama that's played out across the globe. I admire the control TW exhibits. He keeps all the small modern threads of this story separate and understandable without losing the reader. Then he weaves those 21st century political and social threads into an amazing medieval tapestry. He creates a landscape of forked-tongue demons and never-ending hellfire through which his heroic characters must struggle for victory. The symbolism of the book of Revelations is made real and understandable in an entertaining drama. The story is uniquely memorable and thought provoking. As a writer myself, I found it irresistible to try to see if I could have done things better. I quickly gave up that idea. In the face of the tremendous body of literature that TW had to tackle, I would have been hard pressed to sort all those ancient religious concepts into a workable story. TW has created a coherent and interesting interpretation of a book many consider incomprehensible. Bravo!
