Welcome to the Dowse archive for writers, artists and other creative people. Although no new material is currently being added to the site, Dowse remains a valuable resource (effectively an archive) of hundreds of pages of articles, fiction, reviews, links and so on. In addition, some automated features such as news feeds will continue to update themselves regularly. In recent times the vast task of updating and developing Dowse by hand has become beyond the time constraints of those volunteers involved, this including and especially applying to the Dowse originator. Therefore the decision was made to leave the monolith of Dowse to weather the effects of time unaided, this to come into effect immediately after a move to a new server and web host, now completed. Dowse email and how to contact Dowse The facility for Dowse visitors to set up their own email address at dowse.com was officially closed at the end of March 2003, and all users were informed of this by email at the time (any remaining references to offers of "dowse free email" remaining on the site have long since been invalid). In addition a notice about this closure of the email facility remained here on the home page throughout 2003, likewise further notices remained in relevant places such as at the former email 'login' page. Due to further abuse and hijacking of Dowse email addresses as well as the new status of Dowse as an archive, ALL Dowse email addresses, without exception, have now been taken out of use. What this means: no email whatever from dowse.com is being sent by the operators of this site or by the owners of this site. In the event, therefore, that anyone receives any email which purports to come from dowse.com, such email is illegitimate and should be deleted unread. The only remaining way to contact anyone at Dowse.com is to use the form mail we have set up here. However, due to the time constraints mentioned above, most communications are regrettably likely to go unanswered. We apologise for any such lack of response. Despite all of this, Dowse remains a valuable resource open to access and enjoyment by all, and who knows, maybe one day the time and resources will become available to once again further develop the site.
